WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney declared Friday that
he "probably" used the F-word on the Senate floor shortly after a
greeting from a Democratic senator descended into a big-time
verbal brawl.
But Cheney's concession, given late Friday exclusively to Fox
News, came only after an explanation of sorts of Tuesday's
confrontation during the taking of the normally festive annual
Senate photograph.
"That's not the kind of language I usually use ... That's not
the kind of language I ordinarily use," said Cheney, who also
serves as Senate president, when asked about the scrap with Sen.
Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).
"I expressed my dissatisfaction with Sen. Leahy ... he is the
kind of individual who would make those kinds of charges and then
come act as though he's your best friend and I expressed my views
of his conduct and walked away."
Tuesday, Cheney had rebuffed a greeting from Leahy and the
senator jokingly asked the vice president whether he was refusing
to even talk to Democrats. After some back and forth, Cheney
turned on his heels, leaving " -- yourself" or "go -- yourself"
in his wake.
Asked if he used the obscenity, Cheney told Fox's Neil Cavuto
"probably."
